Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed multiple lives on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, describing the incident as a sad loss for Ghana.
In a statement, Nana Konadu joined the families, government, and people of Ghana in mourning the victims, noting that their deaths were not only a blow to the nation but also to the international community, many of whom may have had contact with some of the deceased.
“This is a sad loss for Ghana,” she said. “Their loss is a sad one for the entire country and indeed the international community, many of whom may have interfaced with some of the departed.”
She extended her heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families, praying for comfort, strength, and divine guidance during what she described as a “very trying period.”
Nana Konadu also sympathised with the Ghana Armed Forces, which lost some of its men in the crash while they were on duty serving the nation.
“My sympathies go also to the officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces who have lost men who were on duty for God and country,” she stated.
She prayed for the souls of the departed, asking that they rest in eternal glory, and called for national unity in grief as the country comes to terms with the tragedy.
The August 6 helicopter crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, has plunged the nation into mourning, with tributes pouring in from leaders and citizens across the country.
The incident claimed eight lives into ministers of state. The deceased are:
