The Cape Coast High Court ‘A’ has sentenced to death by hanging, the killer of a renowned Cape Coast-based dancehall artiste known as Unruly Grank.
The judgement was pronounced on the convict Bright Ellis, affectionately called ‘Shadow’ on Friday, January 20, 2023 by his Lordship Emmanuel Lodoh.
Born Emmanuel Aikins, Unruly Grank who is a budding musician was stabbed to death on Sunday, 7th February 2021 by the convict over a music beef the deceased had with a colleague artiste at the age of 24.
His untimely death took place at the Orange Beach Resort in the Cape Coast South Constituency of the Central Region at about 13p.m.
The mother of the deceased, Madam Kate Swanzy, was excited by the outcome of the trial, calling it a “fair ruling”.
She admonished Ghanaians to exercise patience with the courts when there is a little delay in trials, all in the hope that justice would be delivered at the end.
She also advised Ghanaians who at times get rowdy when a suspect is granted bail by the court to exercise restraint because being granted bail doesn’t mean one is innocent.
Madam Kate Swanzy expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the state’s prosecutor Mr. Vincent Nyenaku for his unflinching support throughout the court hearing.
He noted that the mother of his son’s killer will by this verdict experience her own version of the pains she went through during the earlier stages of her son’s death.
Uncle to the deceased dancehall artiste, Papa Kojo Swanzy who was also delighted about the ruling thanked the trial judge for his “undiluted sincerity”.
He advised the youth against violence and any criminal activities like murder because the law would definitely catch up with offenders.
