A fire outbreak at Sehwi Helehele in the Juaboso district of the Western North region has razed down a cocoa shed completely destroying valuable items in its rage.
Items gutted by the fire include 60 bags of cocoa beans, 3 cocoa weighing scales, 4 motorbikes, 5 spraying machines, 150 pieces of wood, 100 bags of charcoal, 4 bicycles, 4 solar panels, and a chainsaw machine.
Others are 3 bags of maize, 4 multi TV dishes, television set, generator and other properties worth thousands of cedis.
The fire outbreak which started around 5pm on Monday, January 2, 2023 was brought under control by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service with the support of some members of the community.
The owner of the cocoa shed, Festus Ahenkorah was out of town when the incident happened.
He told journalists he had rushed his sick wife to hospital, only to return to ashes from the burned shed.
The Juaboso District Fire Officer, DO3 Miah Emmanuel recalled that his office had a distress call about the incident and personnel rushed to the scene to quench the fire.
DO3 Miah advised residents in the area to be very careful about how to use fire, especially, during the harmattan season.
The District Chief Executive of Sehwi Juaboso, Godfred Asante noted that personnel from NADMO would visit the fire scene to assess the situation and decide on the kind of support they can give to the victim.
