The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor has disclosed that all structures that were affected by the construction of the National Cathedral have been duly compensated by the state.
According to him, the said owners were given alternative public lands to relocate to.
Prior to the construction of the controversial National Cathedral, lots of buildings and businesses occupying the about 16 acre land designated for the project were demolished which raised questions about how the affected owners would be compensated.
But speaking on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, July 27, he debunked allegations that the owners were not compensated saying that “all these institutions have been provided with alternative public lands.”
The lands Minister noted that the Embassy of Mali has been relocated to Airport.
He added that the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has been relocated to Roman Ridge while Numo Logistics has been moved to Cantonments.
“And Comsy Limited has been relocated to East Ridge, thus, Mr. Speaker, all persons, both public and private, who were affected by the construction have been adequately compensated by the way of alternative properties,” he declared in parliament.
