Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the fatal stabbing of a student at Kinbu Senior High School on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
She described the incident as a “tragic and senseless” act that underscores the urgent need for improved safety measures in Ghanaian schools.
In a strongly worded statement, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings condemned the violence and called for a swift and thorough investigation by the relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served.
She emphasized that such acts of brutality have no place in educational institutions and urged stakeholders across the education and security sectors to take decisive steps to prevent similar tragedies.
“Violence has no place in our schools! Our children must feel safe in their learning environments. This tragedy must be a wake-up call,” the MP said.
She extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the student body, faculty, and the entire Kinbu SHS community as they mourn the loss of a young life cut short under horrific circumstances.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings also pledged to collaborate with the Ghana Education Service (GES), school administrators, community leaders, and security agencies to boost safety protocols and mental health support systems across schools in her constituency.
“As the Member of Parliament for the Klottey-Korle Constituency, I am committed to working…to enhance safety and mental health support within schools,” she stated.
The MP’s comments come as the nation grapples with rising concerns about student safety, bullying, and violence in secondary schools. Thursday’s incident has sparked a wave of concern from parents, educators, and civil society groups, many of whom are calling for urgent reforms in school security and student counselling.
Authorities are yet to release a full report on the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing, but police sources have confirmed that investigations are underway.
Kinbu SHS, located in the heart of Accra, is one of the oldest and most prominent secondary schools in the capital. The tragedy has thrown the school community into mourning, with many students reportedly traumatised by the event.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings’ call for collaborative action adds to growing pressure on policymakers to make school safety a top national priority.
