“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)
Today’s feature of love follows directly from the previous one. Love does not easily get angry, not that it never gets angry. Anger sometimes becomes necessary to ensure a certain right course of action is enforced.
Anger and offences are inevitable in life. The superiority of love is its ability to forgive. Forgiveness is what keeps any relationship going.
Although the phrase “Forgive and forget” cannot be found in the Bible, when you truly love someone, you will not keep a record of their wrongdoings in your heart after forgiving them.
Love does not keep referring to past mistakes. Neither does it allow the past errors of others to affect its present and future attitude towards them.
Someone said, “When you forgive you heal, and when you let go, you grow.” May we grow in love by letting go of whatever hurts people have caused us and truly forgive them from our hearts.
And always remember that love does not keep a record of wrongs.
