Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie, the Group Chairman of Allied Consortiums, a South African-based conglomerate, has implored all Voltarians across the globe to strive with a united front to develop the Volta region.
The Eweland, as the region is affectionately referred to, can only be developed fully by indigenes, he underscored.
Speaking at this year’s Annual Convention of the Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Loveland, Colorado, in the U.S. from August 29 – September 2, 2024, Mr. Benjamin Quashie highlighted the need for a concerted effort to develop the Eweland.
“Throughout the day I have noticed one thing, the passion with which this group is concerned about Eweland. And one thing runs through, each speaker says we have nothing than our land. Nobody will develop it for us but ourselves,” he stated.
The event, themed “Mina Mia Tu Ewe Dukor” to wit “Let Us Develop Eweland“, showcased CEANA’s dedication to socioeconomic and cultural advancement in Eweland.
Congratulating the organisers for putting together what he termed a brilliant event, the Group Chairman of Allied Consortiums noted, rather regrettably, that a number of communities in the Volta region are still deprived of development projects.
“I am so happy to be among people whose preoccupation is to develop the Eweland. That to me is so brilliant, it is my wish that we continue as we are doing in unity, we continue to be each other’s keeper knowing very well that there is no competition in developing where we come from. Rather, there should be cooperation, dedication, and the will power to be selfish when developing the Eweland.”
He advocated for the replication of CEANA’s concept across the other parts of the world aimed at developing our Eweland.
CEANA’s President, Dr. Tsatsu Nyamadi expressed gratitude to supporters and emphasized the organization’s focus on education and healthcare.
He honored the memory of Eweland’s “heroes and heroines” and quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson, highlighting CEANA’s mission to pioneer development in underserved areas.
The organization aims to raise $200,000 to fund its projects dedicated to driving positive change. With a strong focus on education and healthcare, CEANA is committed to making a lasting impact in Eweland.
